The sixth edition of the European University Games took place in July. This year, Lodz, the third largest city in Poland, hosted the competitions. More than 6,000 athletes from 46 countries fought for their universities for medals in 20 different sports and disciplines. Tennis was also one of the disciplines and the women from the University of Innsbruck won the gold medal in their red and white SPORTKIND outfits. In the final of the tennis competition, players Nadja Ramskogler, Livia Kraus and Maren Benko won the gold medal against the favorite team from Kozminski University from Poland.

What a team effort!

Livia Kraus won the first match 6:1 and 6:1. In the second match, Nadja Ramskogler lost 7:6, 3:6 and 1:6 to Martyna Kubka in a hard-fought three-set game. In the decisive doubles, the two secure the surprising victory.

"Bombastic, energetic, incredible! What a team effort." - this is how the athletes, Livia Kraus, Nadja Ramskogler and Maren Benko describe the final match against their Polish opponents.

Coach Ulli Benko was also impressed by the performance of the women and the high level of the matches throughout the tournament and enthused about the victorious and emotional "goose bumps final".
